Richmond Jewish Foundation (RJF) was established in 1979 as a community endowment foundation for the Jewish community in Richmond, and became an independent philanthropic organization dedicated to strengthening the Jewish community in Richmond and central Virginia.
RJF works as a community foundation to build a collection of endowed funds created by generous donors over time. These funds support a wide range of charitable, educational, and religious causes, helping ensure that community resources continue to benefit future generations.
In addition to supporting organizations throughout Richmond and central Virginia, the Foundation also provides funding for charitable initiatives outside the region, including—but not limited to—Jewish causes.
Through its grantmaking, donor services, and collaborative partnerships, the Richmond Jewish Foundation plays an important role in addressing community needs and fostering philanthropy. By working closely with donors, nonprofits, and community leaders, the Foundation helps strengthen the region while supporting causes that reflect the values and interests of its donors.
Our Mission
Richmond Jewish Foundation is a primary, trusted and expert resource for planned giving and endowments. We engage, educate and inspire generations of donors to create ongoing resources for charitable, religious, and educational needs. Our donors may choose legacies of Tzedakah and Tikkun Olam. We effectively steward philanthropic assets entrusted to our care.
Our Vision
Richmond Jewish Foundation endeavors to preserve the Jewish people, Dor L’Dor (generation to generation), for the advancement of Tzedakah (justice) and Tikkun Olam (repair of the world). Richmond Jewish Foundation will be the leading planned giving and endowments organization in central Virginia devoted to these goals.
